ROTARY UPDATE – QUARANTINE EDITION
We hope everyone is staying healthy and doing well during the quarantine! We have a lot of info for you, so let’s dive in!
Online Meetings
Our club wants to remain connected, now more than ever! To that end we're going to try special online weekly meetings via the Zoom app. Our first meeting will be scheduled for Wednesday the 22nd at 12:00pm and will consist of a very short troubleshooting session to make sure everything is working. If we don't have any trouble we'll have our regular meetings at the same date & time online until the quarantine is over. You should receive an invitation shortly that includes the Zoom address and password. You will need a Zoom account to participate…if you haven’t already, please visit www.zoom.us and create your account. Please send any technical questions to Chad at crobinson@elkhorn.lib.wi.us
Zoom Etiquette
In order to make this a smooth event, we'll be relying on everyone to follow some simple guidelines:
- Stay on Mute. Depending on the sensitivity of your microphone, ambient noises around you can be picked up and interrupt the main speaker. Unless you have a question or comment, please keep your account on mute.
- Turn off camera. If you're experiencing choppy video, bad sound, or lag, try turning off your camera. You'll still be able to hear & see everyone, but your computer won't be tied up broadcasting.
Stir It Up Beneficiaries
We are again asking for submissions for Beneficiaries for our Stir It Up event in November 2020. Thus far we have received nominations for:
- Walworth County Food Pantry
- Elkhorn Area School District Education Foundation
- United Way of Walworth County
- Inspiration Ministries
Here are the parameters for this year’s submissions:
1. We will nominate 3 organizations to be our at-large beneficiaries. Any non-profit organization in Walworth County is eligible. The Elkhorn School Music program will again be a 4th beneficiary.
2. The 3 organizations awarded last year in 2019 will not be eligible this year.
There are a ton of great organizations in our community that we haven't donated to recently or ever, and we would like to spread our Rotary funds around to have an effect on more groups and more people. So this year, Jordan would like to gather submissions and in addition, give an opportunity for the nominator to speak 2 minutes on why they believe that organization would make a great beneficiary.
Similar to last year, we will ask for a blurb on the organization describing what they are about for anyone unable to attend the meeting next Wednesday, and then we will email out a Survey Monkey to the club to determine the top 3 vote getters.
You can submit your nominations early to either Jordan or Bryan at:
